Robert "Bob" Lee Thomas 71, Avon, Indiana, died Monday November 16, 2009. He was born January 4, 1938 in Kokomo, Indiana the son of Byron and Frances Thomas.

Mr. Thomas was an electrician 38 years for Rexnord Corporation. He was discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1960. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Bridgeport Masonic Lodge 162 F. & A.M., American Legion Post 145, Reserve Deputy Hendricks County Sheriff Department, Special Deputy Marion County Sheriff's Department, Retired Volunteer Washington Township Fire Department, volunteer for American Red Cross Disaster Duty Officer and First Aid Instructor, worked as EMT for Parr-Lance Ambulance for several years, volunteer for Avon Marching Band for six years and volunteered for many community services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2009 in Conkle Funeral Home Avon Chapel, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009. Burial will be in Lincoln Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Survivors include wife, Donna M. Ruegamer Thomas, married 52 years; daughters, Debra E. Vanover (Todd) and Brenda S. Simpson; sister, Patricia Ann Roth (Gerald); grandchildren, Chad R. (Carrie) Vanover, Crystal M. (Ian) Browning; great-grandchildren, Kadin T. and Breanna C. Browning.
