Mildred Knoebel 93, passed away Sunday February 28, 2010. She was born in Indianapolis where she was raised and educated. In 1941 she married Joseph Knoebel, who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and also worked outside the home. She retired from Dowden and Company in 1987, having previously worked in the State Treasurers Office. She had been active in Bible Study Fellowship, Zion Evangelical Church and their women's guild and had been a member of the American Business Women's Association. She was known for her excellent candy making and sewing skills and was a compassionate and a generous giver all her life.

"Millie"had sparkling eyes and ahappyface and was an example to her children who couldn't have asked for a better mother. The values that she honored, respected and shared will be her legacy. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Maple Park Village in Westfield for their excellent caregiving skills and love they showed that was so appreciated.

She is survived by son, ThomasKnoebel(Linda); daughter, Karen Melton (Dr. Marvin);grandsons, ThomasKnoebel and Matthew Melton (Megan); granddaughters, Courtney Eckart (Dr. Evan) and Shelly Knoebel and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday March 4, 2010 in Conkle Funeral Home Speedway Chapel, with services at 10 a.m. Friday March 5, 2010 in the funeral home. Entombment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
